Cayuga County Grand Jury Voted Indictment Against Former Auburn School Resource Officer

Auburn, NY - Acting District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced today that former Auburn School Resource Officer, WILLIAM MORRISSEY, was indicted by a Cayuga County Grand Jury on one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Class D Violent Felony; one count of Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors in the First Degree as a Sexually Motivated Felony, a Class D felony; one count of Official Misconduct, A Class A Misdemeanor; and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor. MORRISSEY faces an aggregate prison sentence of up to a fourteen (14) years determinate, followed by ten (10) years of post-release supervision if convicted and will be subject to the Sex Offender Registration Act.


The indictment alleges that during the month of February of 2022, MORRISSEY subjected the victim to sexual contact by forcible compulsion when he grabbed her hand and placed it on his penis. The indictment further alleges that defendant, while employed as a School Resource Officer at the Auburn High School, subjected the minor student victim to sexual acts and engaged in sexually explicit conversations for his own sexual gratification.


The Court previously set bail on MORRISSEY in the amount of $25,000 cash/ $50,000 bond, and a $100,000 partially secured bond option. Arraignment on the indictment will be scheduled before the Honorable Thomas G. Leone at a date to be determined.

The case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Heather DeStefano.
