Cayuga County Grand Jury Voted Second Indictment Against Former Auburn School Resource Officer

Auburn, NY - District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced today that former Auburn School Resource Officer, WILLIAM MORRISSEY, was indicted by a Cayuga County Grand Jury on one count of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, for actions that occurred on October 30, 2022. The indictment alleges that MORRISSEY violated a duly served order of protection when he contacted the victim via Snapchat. This charge is in addition to his previous indictment for one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Class D Violent Felony; one count of Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors in the First Degree as a Sexually Motivated Felony, a Class D felony; one count of Official Misconduct, A Class A Misdemeanor; and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor. MORRISSEY faces an aggregate prison sentence of up to a fourteen (14) years determinate, followed by ten (10) years of post-release supervision if convicted and will be subject to the Sex Offender Registration Act.
MORRISSEY was arraigned on the new indictment charge on March 15, 2023 before the Honorable Thomas G. Leone and remanded without bail.
The case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Heather De Stefano.
