Convicted Sex Offender Sentenced to Long Term of Imprisonment

Auburn, NY - District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced today that William Roth, 52, (DOB 4/24/1971), of the City of Auburn, was sentenced today before the Honorable Thomas G. Leone in Cayuga County Court, to an aggregate term of fifteen years in prison followed by fifteen years of Post-Release Supervision.  He had previously pled in April of 2023 guilty to the felony charges of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree; Possession of a Sexual Performance by a Child; and Failure to Notify DCJS of Internet Identifier.

The four year investigation uncovered that the defendant had been sexually assaulting a female child for three years, that he was in possession of child pornography and that he was utilizing an email address he had not registered with DCJS.  The investigation initially started in 2019 and concluded with the defendant’s arrest in 2023.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Auburn Police Department.  Senior ADA Heather De Stefano prosecuted this case.

“We commend the bravery of this victim for coming forward and disclosing her abuse at the hands of this defendant, as well as the thorough investigation conducted by detectives with the Auburn Police Department, which ultimately led to long-term incarceration of this convicted sex offender.”
