Former Auburn School Resource Officer Pleads Guilty

Auburn, NY - District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced today that former Auburn School Resource Officer, WILLIAM MORRISSEY, 33, of Auburn, New York, pled guilty to the entire indictment before the Honorable Thomas G. Leone today. MORISSEY pled guilty to one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Class D Violent Felony; one count of Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors in the First Degree as a Sexually Motivated Felony, a Class D felony; one count of Official Misconduct, A Class A Misdemeanor; and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor. MORRISSEY faces an aggregate prison sentence of two (2) years determinate, followed by ten (10) years of post-release supervision and will be subject to the Sex Offender Registration Act. He is scheduled to be sentenced on December 21, 2023.


During the plea, MORRISSEY admitted to subjecting the minor victim to sexual contact by forcible compulsion for his own sexual gratification. MORRISSEY also acknowledged that while employed as a school resource officer, he subjected the minor child to sexual acts and engaged in sexually explicit conversations constituting an unauthorized exercise of his official functions.


The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Heather De Stefano.
