Grand Jury Hands Up Indictment Charging Inmate With Assaulting a Cayuga County Sheriff’s Custody Officer

Auburn, NY - District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced today that the Cayuga County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Sincere HARRISON, who is currently being housed at the Cayuga County Jail.  The indictment charges HARRISON with one count each of Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree, a Class D Felony and Assault in the Second Degree, a Class D Violent Felony.  The indictment alleges that on October 24, 2023, HARRISON, having been charged with a crime and while confined in a correctional facility pursuant to such charge, intentionally caused physical injury to a Sheriff’s custody officer when he punched him multiple times in the face. HARRISON is also charged with knowingly and unlawfully possessing dangerous contraband.


HARRISON will be arraigned before Cayuga County Court at a date to be determined.  HARRISON is currently remanded without bail at the Cayuga County Jail and faces a seven-year term of imprisonment on each count, for an aggregate term of fourteen years of incarceration for the charged offenses. 


As with any other individual accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
