Grand Jury Hands Up Indictment in Auburn Shooting Case

Auburn, NY - District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced today that the Cayuga County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Angelo DIAZ, JR, and Matthew WILLIAMS-MCINTYRE, both of Geneva, New York.  The indictment charges both defendants with one count each of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C Armed Violent Felony.  The indictment alleges that on or about November 29, 2023, both DIAZ and WILLIAMS-MCINTYRE possessed a loaded and operable handgun that is believed to have been used in the shooting incident outside of 149 State Street in the City of Auburn. The investigation is ongoing by the Auburn Police Department and additional charges related to the shooting may be forthcoming.


DIAZ and WILLIAMS-MCINTYRE were arraigned today on the sealed indictment before the Hon. Thomas G. Leone in Cayuga County Court and remanded to the custody of the Cayuga County Jail. Their next Court date is January 4, 2024.


As with any other individual accused of a crime, each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
