Auburn, NY - Acting District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced today that MICHAEL AHMED CLARDY, 29, of the City of Auburn, was indicted by a Grand Jury for the New Year’s Eve Attempted Robbery at the Auburn Smoke Shop, located at 67 Franklin Street in the City of Auburn.
A Cayuga County Grand Jury returned an indictment alleging (2) Counts of Attempted Robbery in the First Degree and (1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, all Class C Armed Violent Felonies. CLARDY is currently remanded without bail and being held at the Cayuga County Jail.
The indictment alleges that on December 31, 2021, CLARDY, attempted to forcibly steal property and when in the course of the commission of the robbery, he was armed with a loaded and operable firearm.
CLARDY will be scheduled for arraignment before the Honorable Thomas G. Leone in Cayuga County Court. A date is yet to be determined.
All charged individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty
