Grand Jury Votes Indictment in Robbery and Assault Case

Auburn, NY- District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced today that the Cayuga County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Courtney DONOVAN, 26, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, and Alasia DANIELS, 26, of the City of Auburn, related to a robbery investigation that occurred on July 21, 2023 in the area of Cottage Street in the City of Auburn.  The indictment charges DONOVAN and DANIELS with two counts of Robbery in the Second Degree, Class C Violent Felonies and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor. The indictment alleges that on or about July 21, 2023, both defendants, individually and while acting in concert with each other, forcibly stole property from the victim and during the commission of the crime, caused physical injury to the victim.

 

Both individuals will be arraigned before Cayuga County Court at a date to be determined.  Each defendant faces a 15-year determinate prison sentence on the robbery charges. DONOVAN faces an additional 8-year consecutive prison sentence on an unrelated felony charge, for an aggregate term of 23 years of imprisonment.  

 

DONOVAN was remanded without bail at the Cayuga County Jail and is being held on an unrelated felony bench warrant issued when she fled the State of New York while pending sentencing. DANIELS was arraigned at Centralized Arraignment Part and released against the recommendation of the District Attorney’s Office.

 

As with any other individual accused of a crime, each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
