Man Sentenced After Forcible Sexual Assault Trial

Auburn, NY - District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced Gerald HOFFMAN, 49, of Auburn, New York, was convicted following a jury trial to one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Class D Violent Felony, and one count of Attempted Rape in the First Degree, a Class C Violent Felony, for the forcible sexual assault of a seventeen-year-old.


HOFFMAN was sentenced today before the Honorable Thomas G. Leone to the maximum sentence of a fifteen-year determinate term of imprisonment followed by 15 years of post-release supervision on the charge of Attempted Rape in the First Degree and a 7-year determinate term of imprisonment followed by 10 years of post-release supervision on the charge of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. Both sentences will run concurrently by operation of law.


These cases were prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Heather De Stefano and Assistant District Attorney Amanda Casselman. The investigation was handled by the Auburn Police Department.
