Acting District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced today that accused drug dealer Swyn Nelson, of the City of Rochester, was convicted of two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Class B Felonies; one count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony, and one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, a Class C Felony, following a two day jury trial in Cayuga County Court before the Honorable Thomas G. Leone.

In September of 2019, Nelson sold a quantity of cocaine to a confidential informant in exchange for a sum of United States currency.  That same day, members of the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force executed a search warrant in the City of Auburn where they recovered 72 individually packaged bags of cocaine from the jacket Nelson was wearing. Nelson faces a maximum of nine (9) years, followed by 2 years of post-release supervision on each count.  He faces an aggregate term of imprisonment of eighteen (18) years of incarceration, followed by two (2) years of post-release supervision.

Nelson refused to appear for his scheduled jury trial. The trial was held in his absence and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

The trial was handled by Acting District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci
