Syracuse Resident Pleads Guilty to Robbery Indictment on the Morning of Trial

Auburn, NY - District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced today that Kahlila BENDER-BAKER, 36, of the City of Syracuse, pled guilty this morning to the entire indictment charging on one count of Robbery in the Second Degree, Class C Violent Felony, and one count Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony, for actions that occurred on June 11, 2023. BENDER-BAKER was scheduled for a jury trial which was set to commence this morning. The indictment alleges that BENDER-BAKER, along with three co-defendants, all from Onondaga County, entered Kohl’s Department Store in the Town of Aurelius and stole more than $3,000 worth of merchandise. BENDER-BAKER threatened an employee with a taser while exiting the store through the back emergency exit. She was immediately taken into custody by members of the Auburn Police Department and the New York State Police in the area of Dill Street. BENDER-BAKER faces an aggregate maximum prison sentence of between 3.5- and 15-years determinate followed by 5 years of post-release supervision. She is scheduled to be sentenced before the Honorable Thomas G. Leone on March 21, 2024.
